This 2-figures pack was a gift from my wife, she remembered that I already bought one from the Forbiden Planet in Leeds. This one makes a perfect gift for everybody, their value for money is second to none from my point of view.
I read somewhere that the figures were presented at the London Toy Fair in 2015, which makes them not so new, but still very attractive. The company that produces them is Schleich, which specialises in children figurines and apparently is making its move into the world of superheroes. Their idea behind this nice figures is to deliver collector’s quality pieces at low prices (the wife got them reduced at Home bargains), so they are most welcomed.
The sculpt and the detail are very good, in this particular pack I like the Joker much more than the Dark Knight. It’s not only that the pose is more appealing, but also the sculpt of the face is full of expression and captures the Joker’s evil; some other details also add to my preference like the little detail of the card on the base. I think is fair to say that we are in front of ‘The Killing Joke’ Joker or at least this figure has a strong influence from that particular Joker’s version.
The Batman figurine is more generic, is not as charming as the Prince of Clowns. I don’t remember that many Batman figures running, not my favourite option por the pose, the good news about this figure is definitely the sculpt of the suit, the beutiful blowing cape and the level of detail. I will risk to say that we are in front of the New 52 version of the Bats.
Hand painting is always tricky, this figures are not perfect, but the painting job is solid, they are very light figurines that look like something else which I guess can be credited to the painting. The figures look well made, great to display thanks to the also nicely sculpted and well proportioned bases, a great addition to the shelf overall.
