The newest line from Lego is here: the BrickHeadz. Lego is always finding ways to empty our pockets; actually is the same old method, develop a cool set and print Lego on it.
I wasn't aware what so ever about this new Lego line, I'm more of an opportunistic collector of Lego figures -to keep the budget under control-. This set is great in the sense that combines the opportunity to put a Lego figure together with the aim of displaying it, these models are not really toys but collectables.
These figures were introduced for the first time at the San Diego Comic-Con 2016, they are a mixture of traditional LEGO with the look and logic that seems to come from Minecraft.
The design of the figure borrows from the Lego Batman Movie look, presumably due to the success of it. It could be easy to think it is just a generic design, but if you look carefully, some details like the belt, hint to the movie. In addition, the design for the Robin figure from the same line makes it obvious the reference to Dick Grayson on the blockbuster.
Despite the blocky design of the figure, the proportions and the design of the face gives it a very cute look, almost childlike. The logo is printed in one of the pieces as it will appear in the movie, I think they could print it with a 'blocky' look to go better with the rest of the overall design. The belt, which is a single piece, is a combination of the previous idea, has an outline printed but the shape respects the geometry used in the rest of the figure.
The design of the cape is very basic but is cleverly achieved and fully complements the figure, I also like a lot that it comes with a Batarang. The base has two printed pieces, one has the BrickHeadz logo and the other a speech balloon with the number 1 in reference to this first wave of figures.
